UNILITE – UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY
Unilite is a family business founded in 1981 to supply portable lighting and has since grown into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality work lights. Bryan and Maureen Insley started the company with £800 in their garage in Solihull, England, and it quickly became an established name in the UK market. Unilite remains a family business, now exporting to more than 30 countries worldwide and rapidly becoming a favourite brand among customers. Our motto, LIGHTS-BUILT-TOUGH, is part of our DNA and continues to drive us to meet the highest standards and our customers’ expectations.
LIGHTS-BUILT-TOUGH
With 40 years in business, we have gained extensive experience across a wide and varied market, serving customers who include specialists from many professional industries. Our foundations are built on the highest quality and first-class customer service. This has enabled Unilite to expand and develop with the support of our loyal international customers. The finest components and carefully developed, innovative designs keep us at the forefront, while customer satisfaction remains our top priority.
Significant investment in product development, machinery and manufacturing facilities has allowed us to keep innovating and achieve new breakthroughs. We have also been early adopters of the latest technology, including Focus Control, IR Sensor Activation, Electronic Dimming Configuration and advanced thermal management systems. This has helped establish Unilite as a trusted choice for professionals across a range of industries.
Comparing portable lights from different manufacturers is not always straightforward without referring to ANSI/NEMA FL1, the international performance rating system for flashlights. To help customers assess the quality of our products, we established a well-equipped in-house laboratory with a controlled environment of 21±2°C and 50±40% relative humidity. Alongside other performance and reliability assessments, we carry out six ANSI FL1 tests:
- Light output (lumens)
- Peak beam intensity (candela)
- Beam distance (metres)
- Runtime (hours)
- Water resistance (IP rating system)
- Impact resistance (metres)
By rigorously applying the ANSI FL1 rating criteria to all product testing, our impartial results demonstrate the highest levels of quality and reliability.
MANUFACTURING EXCELLENCE
To ensure the highest quality of Unilite products, we maintain strict control over manufacturing and testing. Every detail is carefully planned at each stage of the process. Protective clothing, including coveralls, hoods, gloves and shoe covers, must be worn when entering all production areas. Air shower chambers remove dust particles to minimise external contamination. Within the production facilities, constant care is taken to keep every part of the workspace free from dust. From injection moulding to packaging and storage, the entire process takes place in a strictly controlled environment.
We have always embraced innovative technology, as demonstrated by our early transition from halogen and krypton light sources to advanced LED chips. However, the light source is only one part of the product. We continually seek to improve every element of our manufacturing process, from lenses and reflectors to housings and switches. We believe each improvement enhances the user experience and embodies Unilite’s core principle: LIGHTS-BUILT-TOUGH.
